As part of an on-going project, the students of Scio High School are putting together a web site for the community of Scio. We are trying to include the many things that make Scio a unique part of Oregon.
We need your help and input
The site has been divided into a series of COMMUNITIES. Listed below are a few of them. Please look through their descriptions and consider how we can work together to expand them.
We would be happy to photograph or reproduce any form of original visual art---painting, photography, sculpture, fabric art, carving, craft piece, the list goes on and on. A page would be created for each artist—of any age—who wished to share his/her craft with the community.
We can also create pages for the small-scale written arts---poetry, lyrics, or short prose.
Self-help groups, outreach programs, doctors, dentists, veterinarians, doctors, and hospices which are based in or have participants living in Scio can have a presence here.
Pages for the fire department volunteers could be built.
We already have links to the public schools of Scio— http://www.scio.k12.or.us But we need input about home schooling opportunities, continuing adult training, church-based education, craft/art classes, daycare, music lessons, and specialized training happening in Scio.
If your local church is located within twenty-five miles or so of Scio, we will be happy to link to your pre-existing site.
We would be happy to construct a site for any merchant or service in Scio. Hours and special services can be listed. If your business is part of a national franchise we can link to the company’s home page. Work out of your home? We can build a site for you.
Scio is a beauty place. We respect our past and celebrate the future. This is the page to post community calendars and links to information about the Lamb and Wool Fair and other yearly activities.
We offer any of the following
·
Simply listing a name and e-mail/phone number on the appropriate page.·
Links to pre-existing sites.·
One page sites updated once a year.·
Photographic services.·
Site construction and design.
Site building
Students from the SHS computer classes will be constructing the pages, however we can work with you in many ways.
·
You can build your own site and we will see that it is properly posted.·
Give us the information and we can put the whole thing together.·
Invest as much time as you wish to come in and work with the students fabricating your site as a team.·
Make a suggestion and point us to someone with more information.·
Prod a friend or co-worker to contact us and get the ball rolling.Cost
A few years ago the voters of Scio took a chance and voted to raise their own taxes so that the school district could make improvements, rebuild the vocational areas, and invest in computers. That money has been very well spent.
The Scio Community Web Site is the district’s and students’ way of saying thank you
.There is no cost for being posted on the Scio Community Web Site.
